“I only wish for a new school bag…”

That wish may seem very small to many people, but for Phan Thị Lụa, it is not something easy to achieve.

Lụa’s family has only three members: her elderly grandmother, her mother, and herself, all relying on one another through difficult days. The family’s livelihood depends on two small rice fields, but due to a lack of irrigation water, they can only harvest one crop each year. The amount of rice they collect is never enough for the family’s daily needs, making every meal a struggle, sometimes enough, sometimes not.

To make ends meet, her mother works as a hired laborer around the village, taking on any job available in hopes of earning a little extra income for the family. However, as the only breadwinner in the household, her mother also suffers from poor health and difficulty walking, making stable work hard to maintain. Life, already filled with hardship, becomes even heavier with constant worries.

The house where Lụa lives is just a simple tin-roofed home that has deteriorated over time. The kitchen remains a temporary old structure, and the bathroom is only roughly built, with many daily necessities still lacking. In that small space, Lụa has long become accustomed to the difficulties of everyday life.

Even so, she always studies diligently and is considered one of the better students in her class. Every day, Lụa rides her small bicycle to school with a love for learning and dreams of her own. She once shared that she hopes to become a fashion designer in the future.

But before reaching for bigger dreams, what she longs for most right now is simply a new school bag so she can go to class each day without worrying that her old worn-out bag will tear apart even more.

And through the journey of the campaign “Here We Sell Dreams,” a small gift was delivered to Phan Thị Lụa.

SEA GN presented her with a new school bag along with essential supplies to encourage and support her on her path to school.

It is hoped that this companionship will help ease some of Lụa’s daily burdens, allowing her to study with more confidence, continue nurturing her dreams, and have greater faith in the future ahead. Every gift given is not only material support, but also a way for small dreams to be heard, cherished, and encouraged to grow day by day.

The campaign “Here We Sell Dreams” is a collaborative program between Good Neighbors International in Vietnam and SEA GN, aiming to create opportunities for disadvantaged children to realize their small dreams, so that every child can have more faith, motivation, and hope for a brighter future.
