In April 2026, Good Neighbors International in Vietnam implemented the Child Rights Education (CRE) Program in the Community Development Project (CDP) areas of Son Duong and Quang Binh, Tuyen Quang Province.

The program engaged more than 3,800 students, contributing to raising awareness of children’s rights, strengthening self-protection skills, and promoting a safe and child-friendly learning environment.

At the Son Duong CDP area, the program was conducted in eight primary schools with the participation of 2,018 students. Activities focused on two key components: Child Rights Awareness (CRA) and Child Empowerment for Self-protection (CES1). Through interactive activities such as group discussions, situational videos, role-playing, and practicing responses to hypothetical situations, students were encouraged to actively share their opinions and develop practical safety skills for daily life. In particular, anatomical dolls and educational comic books helped make the lessons more visual and accessible for younger children.

Meanwhile, at the Quang Binh CDP area, the CRE program was implemented in six schools, including Yen Ha Primary School, Tan Trinh Primary School, Tan Bac Primary School, Bang Lang Primary School, and two semi-boarding primary and lower secondary schools in Yen Thanh and Ban Ria, with the participation of more than 1,800 students. The program included 18 CRA lessons for Grade 3 students, 15 CES1 lessons for Grade 4 students, 9 CES2 lessons for Grade 5 students, and 10 puppet theater sessions on child abuse prevention (GPS) for Grades 1 and 2 students.

The activities were designed appropriately for each age group, helping students better understand children’s rights, identify unsafe situations, and know how to seek support when needed. The combination of visual, interactive, and child-centered educational approaches not only made the lessons more engaging but also encouraged active participation among students.

Sharing about the program, Ms. Hoang Thi Dang – Vice Principal of Bang Lang Primary School – stated: “Through the program, students are able to recognize dangerous situations, understand children’s rights, and learn how to protect themselves.”

Through the implementation of the CRE program in project areas, GNI hopes to strengthen children’s self-protection capacities, promote safer learning environments, and create opportunities for children to be heard, participate, and develop comprehensively.

In the coming time, GNI will continue expanding the Child Rights Education Program to other project areas throughout 2026, bringing more opportunities for children to learn and grow safely.

The Child Rights Education Program is one of GNI’s key educational initiatives, implemented since 2014 for primary school children aged 6–10. Using a child-centered and participatory approach, the program not only provides knowledge about children’s rights and self-protection skills, but also contributes to building a sustainable child protection system through collaboration among students, parents, and teachers.
